The British Grand Prix, is perhaps one of the most important races in all of Formula One. It's the birthplace of the entire sport as, it hosted it's very first Grand Prix in Silverstone back in 1950. It's widely praised for being such a wonderful and iconic track, with technical turns and iconic straights. The British Grand Prix has also been able to share iconic moments throughout the years, and would always remain as the home of Formula One.

The very first British GP took place back in 1950. This race was widely remembered by fans as the first of many races to come in the Formula One World Championship.. The first British GP took place in Silverstone, which is still the same track that F1 still hosts till this day. The very first driver to win a Formula One GP, was Alfa Romeo's Giuseppe "Nino" Farina. Farina held a strong lead in the Grand Prix, managing to keep a steady pace to hold his position to secure a victory.

During the 1963, 1965 and 1967 British Grand Prix, the race was won three times by Lotus's Jim Clark. He managed to take victory three times around Silverstone, as he was able to maintain the pace around the track.

During the 1991 British GP, the race was won by Williams's Nigel Mansell. He managed to completely dominate the entire race starting from pole, after an incredible qualifying session. This would also be another special race as, Mansell gave Senna a lift, after he ran out of fuel during the final lap.

Over the past few years, The Silverstone Circuit layout, has been drastically modified, to promote better racing in general, as well as to suite the conditions of the new regulations over the past 70 years.

British Grand Prix

The 2003 British GP, would be remembered for the fierce battle between Kimi Räikkönen and and Juan Pablo Montoya. The race is remembered for a thrilling wheel-to-wheel battle between McLaren's Kimi Räikkönen and Williams' Juan Pablo Montoya. In a stunning finish, Räikkönen emerged victorious after an intense fight that showcased the raw skill and competitiveness of both drivers.

When the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship came right around the corner, Silverstone would be drastically modified with a new straight added onto the circuit. A new pit building would be added replacing the old starting line since 1950.

During the 2019 British GP, the race was widely remembered for the epic duel between Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, and Red Bull's Max Verstappen. Both drivers fought fiercely together, trying to overtake each other lap by lap. Leclerc's aggressive tactics kept Verstappen behind him, allowing him to secure his current position. Verstappen would later collide with Leclerc's team mate, Sebastian Vettel, which resulted both drivers to spin out and loose positions.

2019 British GP (Formula1)

But when the COVID-19 Pandemic hit, the 2020 season was halted which cancelled a lot of races. even worse, the sport was celebrating their 70th anniversary. F1 would return eventually during in the middle of 2020, as they began their season at Austria. F1 would also return to Silverstone, but would host two races. One for a normal Grand Prix weekend, and the other celebrating their 70th anniversary.

2020 British GP (Formula1)

The 2020 British GP, was a risky race for Mercedes's Lewis Hamilton. During the final lap of the race, Hamilton suffered a puncture on his front left Tyre, making his car to limp across the track. Hamilton was only 26 seconds ahead of the driver behind him, Max Verstappen. And throughout the final stages of the Grand Prix, Verstappen has been desperately trying to catch up to him. Eventually, Hamilton would win the race only ahead of Verstappen by 2 seconds.

The 2021 British GP, is one of the most controversial and dramatic races during the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship. The race fully showed how intense the rivalry between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen is going to be throughout the season. On the first lap of the race, Verstappen managed to snatch first position from Hamilton at the first turn. Hamilton made a few attempts to get pass his rival, but it was at that moment at Copse Corner, Hamilton would eventually collide with Verstappen, sending him into the tyre barriers around 180mph. Verstappen suffered the crash as he faced 51Gs, way more Gs than an astronaut faces upon lift off. Hamilton was penalized for this incident, and received a 10 second Penalty, which he served later on. Hamilton managed to keep his pace throughout the race, making a serious of overtakes. Hamilton would later win the race, which the fans adores. However, a lot of fans would heavily criticize Hamilton's dirty move on Verstappen. This race in particular showed how intense the rivalry between these two drivers is going to be.

Hamilton & Verstappen's Incident 2021 British GP (Formula1)

The 2022 British GP, would also be remembered for Alfa Romeo's Zhou Guanyu's big accident during the first lap of the race. Zhou's car collided with the cars of George Russell and Pierre Gasley, which caused his car to spin upside down and went straight on into the barriers. Despite how intense the crash was, Zhou managed to survive with a sigh of relief from the crowd. This crash also shows how important the Halo was on the F1 car. Despite how ugly it is, this piece managed to save a lot of drivers from huge accidents, just like what happened with Zhou. The race would also mark the first victory for Ferrari's Carlos Sainz. Sainz managed to maintain his pace throughout the whole Grand Prix,

Zhou Guanyu's big accident 2022 British GP (Formula1)

The 2024 British GP was a special day for Mercedes. For the first time in nearly a thousand days, Lewis Hamilton finally won a race. Fans never thought that he'd ever win again after 2021, and the downfall of Mercedes. But Mercedes delivered such a great racecraft during the weekend, which allowed Hamilton to win the Grand Prix. This win also marks his 9th victory in Silverstone, making Hamilton the first driver to win a Grand Prix multiple times.

Hamilton's Big Return 2024 British GP (Formula1)

Silverstone is such a wonderful track, which is loved by many and has always been delivering a lot of great action over the past few years. Formula One wouldn't be what it is today without Silverstone.
